Leave a mark!

International anti-fascist call to action 20 years since the fateful night and the murder of Davide “Dax” Cesare.

Twenty years have now passed since that tragic night in Milan on 16 March 2003, when Davide “Dax” Cesare was killed by numerous stab wounds  during an ambush by 3 nazi-fascists.  Today, as always, we are convinced that anti-fascism affects everyone closely, that we cannot and must not delegate it, that it should not be a mere ‘recurrence’, and that we cannot afford to leave its memory to the media and to institutions of any kind. As back then, and increasingly now, we are aware that memory is a collective mechanism that must be cultivated over time, from the bottom up in our own neighborhoods and cities, and that it must expand and develop on an international scale.

For this reason, we have decided to put out call to action for March 16th, 2023 aimed at those who fight fascism in all its forms. The call is for actions that encompass all those practices that can best contribute to the memory of Dax and all the fallen anti-fascists.

We therefore invite everyone, individuals and groups/collectives, to leave a sign of any kind or form in your respective cities, to bring to life something that is more than memory but also  responsibility and struggle for those who are no longer with us and have been struck by the vile hand of fascism.

Because an action carried out together is more incisive, because only through the sharing of practices and memories can we remember and defend anti-fascism from revisionists who want to rewrite history. Only through reappropriation and organisation outside of institutional circuits can anti-fascism become a mechanism of collective meaning and shared ground.

We therefore invite everyone to create banners, graffiti, or to contribute any other type of action that leaves a mark, with the name of Dax and the murdered anti-fascists, an act of internationalist resistance, love and anger, an indelible and shared sign not to forget our fallen comrades and not to forgive their killers, to affirm once again that anti-fascism is anti-capitalism.

In the night, the stars will guide us.

With Dax, Fausto, Iaio and all the anti-fascists killed in the world, the resistance continues.
